Sunset Moments & Unexpected Nightlife in Marathon
We arrived at the Blackfin Resort & Marina just in time for sunset—and wow, what a show. Quin and I stood there watching as the sky transformed into brilliant shades of orange and pink before melting into the calm of night. It was one of those moments that makes you stop and breathe it all in.
Just as we were preparing for dinner, we got a call that our lighthouse tour had been canceled for the following morning and rescheduled for later that afternoon. It threw a little wrench in our plans, but after a quick regroup, we decided to roll with it. Quin fired up the grill, and before long, the smell of juicy burgers filled the air—our impromptu dinner under the stars.
Afterwards, we wandered over to the Brass Monkey for a nightcap and soaked in the laid-back Keys vibe before calling it a night.
The next morning came slowly and sweetly. We headed to 7 Mile Grill, conveniently located next to our snorkeling boat, for breakfast. The place had that easy, old-Florida charm—open, breezy, and welcoming. We grabbed a table outside near the bar, and the food came out fast and delicious.
With time to spare before our trip, we chatted with our first mate, double-checked our gear, and then boarded a catamaran with Starfish Snorkeling. As we set off toward a stunning lighthouse rising out of the ocean, excitement bubbled up—I couldn’t wait to see the lighthouse.
It was one of those days where everything felt perfectly unplanned—unexpected changes, good food, ocean air, and moments that linger long after you leave.
