A Serendipitous Stroll Through the Nunan Butterfly Garden

Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones you don’t plan for. While waiting for the native plant sale to begin, Shanda and I found ourselves wandering behind the Mount Dora Library—and that’s when we stumbled upon the Nunan Butterfly Garden.

From the moment we stepped onto the winding paths, I felt like we had entered a secret world. The air was alive with color—native blooms in every shade imaginable—and butterflies drifted lazily from one flower to another as if showing off their wings just for us. Bees buzzed softly nearby, and the sun filtered through the clouds with that hopeful shimmer after a light rain. We meandered slowly, letting the garden pull us along, one path leading into another. It was peaceful and enchanting, the kind of place that invites you to slow down and just be.

I’m so glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem. If you ever find yourself in Mount Dora, take a moment to wander through this beautiful space—you might just leave with a lighter heart and a smile you didn’t expect.
