Forest Capital Museum State Park started out to be just a warm place for me to go to escape the freezing temperatures of the morning. As I walked around the museum, I was baffled to find out that the longleaf pine industry was so big in Florida and that the pines produced 5,000 products. It was a lot of fun to walk around the cute little building and see the products and learn about the history of the industry and the importance of it to the community. I also got a little lesson on the reproduction of the pine tree which proved to be very interesting.

Unfortunately I could not tour around the 19th-century cracker homestead because it was being remodeled or revamped. I was ok that day because I was thoroughly enjoying my time in the shelter of the museum.

Before you visit, make sure you check out the parks website for all of the up-to-date park information: https://www.floridastateparks.org/index.php/parks-and-trails/forest-capital-museum-state-park
