George, Casey and I took a day to go State Parking around the southwest part of the state. We had such a nice time and we were able to see many different types of parks. The only area we were limited in was beach access because we had Casey but we were still able to enjoy everything else the parks had to offer.
There was a little line to get into Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park and a sign in the front stating that once the park is full the gate will close, for the day. We got so lucky because they were close to capacity when we squeezed in. We drove around the parking lot, passing a spot right away, hoping for a closer one. We circled back to the original spot and parked because that was the only one left!
It seemed like the main attraction of the park was the beach so we walked to the end of the walkway, looked around, and headed back to the car. That was the shortest visit to a park yet. As we were driving out of the park we spotted an observation tower so we circled back, twice to get our original parking spot, again.
We climbed the tower and when we got to the top all we could see were beautiful mangroves. I wondered how long the tower had been there and just how tall it used to be in comparison to the tree height, then and now. We tried to spot the ocean but the trees were just too high. It was like nothing else was around, so beautiful and peaceful up there. It was really cool to be high up with the mangroves when usually I am hanging out with them on a boardwalk or in the water, passing them by on a boat.
