My car was packed full and I was ready to go well before most people are even thinking about waking up on a weekday, let alone on a Saturday! It was Memorial Day Weekend and I learned a few years back that people LOVE to go to the springs on a holiday. Anywhere with water is popular for Memorial Day and the springs are a perfect place to have a BBQ with family and friends. With that said, I was the first person of the day to arrive at Madison Blue Spring. Swimming is not an interest of mine while visiting the parks but I do get their early so I can have space to explore, uninterrupted, and to find a parking space.

When I got out of my car & headed to the spring, I could not believe my eyes. I have seen a lot of beautiful places in the Florida park system but I feel like Madison Blue Spring was one of the prettiest, if not, the prettiest one I had even seen. As Casey & I walked up & around the edge & it felt like I was inside a painting. The colors were so brilliant & there were so many different shades of blue, green & browns. We walked all around and down to the spring making sure we took in every angle. So breath-taking.

After a while, we found a nature trail that was hidden between the pavilions. That was so unlike me. I must be turning into a outdoorsy person, slowly. There was another body of water, the Withlacoochee River. I felt so lucky to find this treasure. I walked along the waters edge & admired all of the nature that surrounded me. It was the perfect place to replenish the soul & set the tone for a full day of State Parking on a holiday weekend.

Before you visit, make sure you check out the parks website for all of the up-to-date park information: https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/madison-blue-spring-state-park
