Andrew, my son, and I went on a 2 day State Parking adventure together and it was so much fun. Now you must know that State Parking with an 18 year old is much different than State Parking with people my age. He really enjoyed hiking, which was nice, but by the time that we arrived at Lake Talquin, I was beat. Let me just say, that park was a gift and a perfect last stop.

There was a certain kinda of magical feel when we pulled up to Lake Talquin State Park. There was a huge pavilion that would be great for parties and right behind was a really cool boardwalk. That boardwalk was long, 650 feet, and was right at water level. We slowly walked the entire length, stopping along the way to enjoy the scenery.

We did look for the hiking trails but were unable to find the entrance but that was probably best because the sun was setting rapidly. We did not have nearly enough time to soak in all the beauty of the park but the time we spent there was well worth it.

On the way back to DeLand, Andrew told me those were his favorite parks so far and I am so happy we got to explore them together. I’m sure without him, there would have been miles of land I would not have seen!
