It was a pretty cold afternoon and a very blustery day. I wasn’t sure I even wanted to get out of the when I arrived at Henderson Beach State Park but I am sure glad I did. In fact it took me a long time to exit the car because I really hate being in the cold but I finally muster the courage to get out and see Henderson Beach.

There was a boardwalk trail that made a windy way through these amazing sand dunes, some of them were like 30 feet tall. There were all kinds of different ecosystems along the way. Each turn of my head was a new experience. I was so tickled during my stroll to the water.

The beach itself was breathtaking with a beautiful white sand beach that still had a good amount of visitors even though the wind could knock you over! The water was so blue. You could see the tinge of the emerald color but the blue dominated. It did not take away from how stunning the scene was that afternoon. I could not get enough of what I was seeing.

The sea oats, the flowers, the whitest sand I had ever seen, the ever changing landscape due to the fierce wind, it was brilliant. What a perfect way to start the end of the last day the year.
