I was invited to spend the night at a friends house in Bradenton which would give me the opportunity to explore the parks in the southwest part of the state. I did a little rearranging of my schedule and made my way across the state.

Colt Creek State Park is kinda in the middle of the state so it was the perfect first stop of the day. It was a very nice, clean park. I drove towards the back and found a parking lot next to the restrooms and canoe rack. I was excited because I brought my bike with me and it was the first time I actually got to ride my bike in the wild. Truth be told, I prefer to just look at it! That thing is too hard to ride. I was hoping that with some practice it would get easier.

I rode my bike around the big lake and then by the little ones. The more I rode it the harder it got to ride. I was thinking maybe I did not have enough air in my tires so I decided to put it back on the rack and see the rest of the park on foot.

I retraced my steps and hiked all of the places I had taken my bike. I wanted to really take the time to look around the park and soak in nature. I believe I got to see all it had to offer a hiker with my experience. I did notice that there were a lot of equestrian trails. I bet there is a lot more to see on the back of a horse. I feel satisfied with my visit but interested to see a little more of what the park has to offer.

Before you visit, make sure you check out the parks website for all of the up-to-date park information: https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/colt-creek-state-park
