I love Florida. There are so many amazing things to do and places to go. There are big towns, medium size towns and quaint towns. One of my very favorite towns to visit is Cedar Key. It is such a nice, quiet, town with plenty of things to do and nothing to do at all. I first discovered Cedar Key when I was State Parking. There are two parks located near town. My first time through, I was on a mission, so I could not really spend any time there but I knew I had to go back. Months later while State Parking I happened to be led to the area again, this time Quin was with me. We stopped in for some lunch & took a very informative boat tour of the keys. It was a great time. At the end of the tour many dolphins appeared & came right over to the boat. It was so cool. The first thing I thought of was how much my mom would love to see those dolphins so I knew I would be back again.

I took my mom to Cedar Key for her birthday and we did a little shopping, ate some lunch, & then enjoyed a boat tour. Although there were dolphins, there were not as many as the first time but I think she still enjoyed her day there.

Quin & I have been back many times. We like to stay at the little hotels around the key. The sunsets are so beautiful and the food is always delicious. We have gone with our own boat and enjoyed the waters and the Cedar Key National Refuge. We have even taken a boat tour to see the Seahorse lighthouse, but that is a different story.

The town closes very early but that doesn’t stop us from having a good time. We just fill up our cups with yummy beverages and roam the streets while the rest of the town sleeps. There is something very magical about seeing the town at rest. No matter how many times we have gone it has always been a unique experience with different places to see and interesting people to meet.

Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce: a great resource for information on upcoming events and activities.
