There were still a cluster of parks in Northeast Florida that I still needed to see so I asked my son, Andrew, if he would like to come along with me on a State Parking adventure. He said yes and I could not have been more excited. We always have a great time together but I knew that was going to be my last opportunity to spend some QT with him before he headed out on his own adventure, hiking the Appalachian Trail!
We got up with the sun, packed up the car, and Casey, and hit the road for our big day of State Parking Adventures! We arrived at Dudley Farms Historic State Park a few minutes early so we drove across the street where some cows were hanging out, for some free entertainment. Casey was not sure what to think of the cows but she sure thought she was protecting us from those beast with her scary bark. It was pretty funny because they could care less about any of us.
Once the gates were opened we headed in to the park. We started with a tour of the museum. It was very interesting to learn the history of the farm and the family that built it. We asked if we could take Casey onto the farm and the person told us she was not allowed but if we held her the whole time she could go. I do not think this is normal so you may want to leave your dog at home when you visit the farm.
It was a really great place to roam around and see how a farm actually works. We got to see all of the moving parts. Andrew and I were amazed at how much one family actually accomplished. The structures were outstanding. The park still keeps it functioning. It is an authentic working farm, so cool. I really enjoyed our visit to the farm.
