Andrew and I were on a State Parking weekend when we came across a sign for Ichetucknee Springs State Park on our way to Troy Springs. We followed the signs to the park and we were led to the south entrance. Typically this is where all the tubing action takes place the during season but were there before the busy time of year so everything was closed up. We couldn’t even get a hotdog or a bag of chips if we tried.
We took advantage of having the whole park to ourselves and meandered through the three hiking trails. If we were there during season we probably would not have even thought about walking the park. One of the trails led us down to the spring where we encountered a few ‘brave’ souls out there in the water, screaming every time the cold water touched their skin.
We went to the North entrance as well. I am not sure where we did all of the land exploring. We went all over the park. I watched Andrew climb all of the tress, we walked by Blue Hole spring but didn’t go in, and we finished our day with Andrew taking Casey to the playground. We had a blast at Ichetucknee but next visit will be for the water.
